Tips to Preserve Whisky

Unlike wine that needs great attention to temperature and humidity, storing whisky is very easy. Since high alcohol content can prevent bacteria, you can simply store them in a cool, dark place away from any direct sunlight. For opened whisky, pay attention not to leave anything in the bottle. One point worth noting is that whisky is generally sealed by aluminum caps or corks. As most old Scotch Whiskies used corks, you should keep the bottles upright while storing this kind of whisky. Keeping the cork immersed in a high-ABV spirit will make it disintegrate, thus affecting the appearance, taste and value of the whisky.
